About Safari the Globe

Our Mission

At Safari the Globe, our mission and focus is on understanding modern-day cultures, which are created by the landscapes and events from every culture's past. This quest for knowledge begins with every aspect of a modern culture including the language, food, genetic heritage, and even the sports and entertainment loved by the people.

It is our belief that travelers, and those just curious to learn about foreign cultures, should know and understand why cultures are the way they are in order to prevent misunderstandings, biases, preconceptions, and hatred.

It is our hope that each of our visitors gains more knowledge about their destination, but more importantly a better understanding of why their destination is what it is today. To accomplish this goal, we want our readers to better understand why people speak their particular language, eat their particular foods, and love the sports that they love.

We believe to understand any culture one must better understand the landscapes and events of the past. We hope to accomplish this by teaching our readers more about the geography that influenced the way of life, the weather that provided plants, the animals that call the lands home, the history that changed the people, the religions that have influenced daily life, and the languages and ethnicities that help contribute to the modern society and culture.

However, it is also our mission to remind people that every individual is unique and what may be typical for a culture isn't necessarily true or representative of every individual from that country or culture.

We hope to accomplish this huge task of cultural understanding by providing accurate, up to date, relevant, and focused information through words and imagery. From information about the native land, weather, and wildlife to history, architecture, and culture, it is our hope that each of our visitors gains more knowledge about their destination, but more importantly a better understanding of why their destination is what it is today.

Our History

In 2009 Safari the Globe was informally founded by Justin Dodge when the website was launched. It began as a medium to display his travel pictures and stories with family and friends, but quickly turned into a more informational website as it transformed into a site dedicated to knowing and understanding foreign cultures, including information about each country's geography, weather, wildlife, history, architecture, food, and culture.

Today, Safari the Globe continues to expand as our focus remains on understanding modern-day cultures and the landscapes and events that created these modern societies. It is our hope that each of our visitors gains more knowledge about their destination, but more importantly a better understanding of why their destination is what it is today.

Due to our emphasis on cultural understanding, we don't focus our content to only the business traveler, vacationer, or ex-patriot working or studying abroad. Instead, we focus on providing every traveler accurate and up to date information about their destination's people and culture. Whether you're abroad to conduct business, study abroad, or just experience a new place, we hope Safari the Globe helps you make the most of your time while you're away.

Our Founder

Justin Dodge is an avid traveler and this interest sparked the founding of Safari the Globe. Justin is from state of Wisconsin, in the United States and as a child frequently traveled around the U.S.A., particularly to Florida and Illinois, where much of his family lives. His first trip outside the United States was in 1999, when he traveled to Canada with his family.

Despite his trip to Canada, Justin's addiction to traveling didn't truly begin until 2003, his next trip abroad, when he went to Kenya and Tanzania to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was the vast differences in culture, food, scenery, and wildlife that hooked him on travel and truly began his adventures...
