Dress
The traditional dress in Slovenia is very regional as the country is quite mountainous and these mountains have divided the people, hence giving each region a unique traditional dress. Despite the many differences between these outfits, there are also a number of similarities. Women tended to wear loose-fitting skirts, white shirts, aprons, and often times a belt of some sort and a hat or scarf for their hair. Men also dressed in similar style as pants, long-sleeved shirts, vests, and hats were the norm. For both men and women though the colors and particular styles vastly differed from region to region.
Today, this traditional clothing is only worn for ceremonial occasions, not for everyday wear. The people today wear clothing that is no different from that worn through Europe and much of the world. As a visitor to Slovenia, this same dress is acceptable as there are no restrictions on dress; although sunbathing naked or women sunbathing topless is only permitted in certain places so always be sure to know where this is allowed before doing so. In general, just dress for the occasion with more formal dress in business and religious settings, while in the outdoors, nearly anything is acceptable.
